"FIGURE 8" COLLAPSIBLE HOOP CUSTOMERS-
A collapsible "figure 8" hula hoop is a full size hula hoop that folds down to 1/4 of its area in size. This is done by folding the hoop into a figure 8, and then folding the figure 8 in half. There are 2 connection points on both sides of the hula hoop. These points are where the hoop will swivel into the figure 8 AND then fold in half. Please watch this short video tutorial for an easy visual explanation. Please note that watching this video is a MUST when purchasing a collapsible hoop, as we are not responsible for damage to your hoop if you do not follow the simple instructions. This video can only be viewed on this website, and does NOT come packaged with your hoop purchase.
We created the collapsible hoop option for the convenience of shipping. (We offer the collapsible hoop option to our local customers as well.) When shipping a large body hoop, there have been issues with the postal service, UPS, and FedEx wanting to charge ridiculous amounts for an over-sized box shipment! This would not be feasible for us as a company, as well as you, the paying customer. There are other conveniences when it comes to owning a collapsible hula hoop. For example, it makes for much easier traveling with your hula hoop when you can break it down to 1/4 of the size! It fits perfectly in a suitcase when traveling on an airplane. It can be attached to your bicycle seat for a fun-filled day of fitness. It can be easily attached to your backpack straps to take along with you on nature hikes!
Collapsible hoops are also convenient when you are trying to be a bit more discreet when carrying your hula hoop in public. Care for your collapsible hula hoop is simple. When not traveling with your hoop, unfold it, straighten it out, and store it in its natural whole-circled shape. This gives your hoop a 'rest'. Please do not attempt to fold or unfold your hoop until watching the short video tutorial. If done incorrectly or forcefully, the hoop tubing could kink, leaving your hoop damaged and unable to spin correctly. Keep this in mind if you allow other people to use your hoop, and make sure you give them a quick tutorial on the do's and dont's of hoop collapsing.
***IF THE LARGE CARD ATTACHED TO YOUR HOOP HAS "UN-COILED" CIRCLED, USE THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS***
POLYPRO, HDPE, or "Small black hoop push-button" CUSTOMERS-
TO COLLAPSE YOUR HOOP, YOU WILL COIL DOWN THE TUBING, UNLIKE A "FIGURE 8" STYLE HOOP. THE FOLLOWING VIDEO SHOWS THE BEST METHOD TO COIL AND UN-COIL. For best viewing, watch in full screen.
Always remember to coil down slowly or you risk kinking or bending the tubing, which will ruin your hoop. Coil at your own risk! We are not responsible for damage from coiling! Do not be afraid to stop and start over if the tubing appears it is about to bend, or just be safe and use the "partial-coil" method (also it is recommended to use this method for hoops under 32"). When not traveling with your hoop, please give your hoop a 'rest'. Un-coil it, straighten it out, and store it in it's natural whole-circled shape. When your hoop arrives new to you from the mail, please snip the zip-ties and let your hoop naturally unloosen on it's own before actually putting it together (placing it in the warm sun helps).
